Why Take the DELF Exam?

Need to certify your level in French as a foreign language?
The DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) is an internationally recognized diploma that validates your skills in French. Aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the exam assesses the four core competencies in language learning:

  • Listening comprehension
  • Reading comprehension
  • Speaking skills
  • Writing skills
     

Depending on your level, you can choose from four versions of the DELF: A1, A2, B1, or B2. It is an official diploma issued by the French Ministry of Education, valid for life and recognized worldwide.
It can help you:


Obtaining the DELF is therefore an undeniable asset when applying for a job in a company where French is the main language. But you may also be asked to provide it in order to enroll in a French-speaking university and prove your level of French. In addition, the DELF B1 or B2 is also recognized as official proof of your level of French when applying for French citizenship.

Preparing for the DELF in Paris: What to Expect at Each Level?

Choosing your DELF level depends mainly on your current skills and your goals.
YoTo help you prepare, we provide a comparison table showing what is expected at each level of the DELF exam.u can take the DELF A1 or A2 (beginner levels), or the DELF B1 or B2 (intermediate levels).

Engage in simple dialogues (e.g. travel, shopping).

Briefly present a familiar topic.

Give information, describe an event.

DELF B1

 

Understand the main points of clear conversations on familiar topics (work, school, leisure).

Identify main points in news reports.

Read and understand simple factual texts.

Identify main and some detailed ideas.

Duration: 35 min

 

 

Hold a conversation and express opinions.

Present and briefly justify a viewpoint.

Write a coherent, simple text on familiar topics.

Describe experiences and express opinions.

DELF B2

 

Understand long and complex speeches.

Follow structured arguments and detect implied viewpoints.

Understand argumentative texts.

Deliver a clear, structured oral presentation.

Develop arguments and respond to objections.

    Individual registration valid for one year and applicable to all our French language courses in Paris, Dijon and online. Price includes all teaching materials used in class. Price adjustments apply to national holidays (any missing classes will be deducted from the total fee).
