This Wednesday, we crisscrossed a charming district of the 9th district located just 10 minutes from the school: New Athens! In the 19th century, many artists such as the painters Théodore Gericault, Eugène Delacroix or Gustave Moreau and intellectuals such as George Sand and Victor Hugo came to settle there in beautiful mansions. This is where the famous Romantic movement was born! We took advantage of the walk to observe certain characteristics of this part of Paris: its music stores, its theaters, its cabarets (including the Moulin Rouge), its quiet streets and dressed stone buildings. What make us want to come back to explore other streets!
